Hublot partners with Scottish retailer ROX as Official Timing Sponsor of Track Events on the illustrious Braemar Royal Highland Society, and on the occasion of the historic Braemar Highland Gathering.
Over the last 900 years since the annual congregations of the Gatherings have occurred in Scotland, the events have garnered great interest and large crowds. This year a record 15,000 spectators came to support international and military athletes participating in both the ‘heavy’ and ‘track’ events of the traditional highland games.
For 150 years the Society has enjoyed the Royal Patronage of five successive Monarchs who have been keen supporters of the annual Gathering. Her Majesty The Queen is the current, and longest serving, Patron of the Braemar Royal Highland Society and her loyal support has helped the customs of the Gathering remain, as cherished today, as ever before. Her Majesty The Queen was also joined at the event by the Prince of Wales, Princess Royal and Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh.
2016 welcomed the biggest Armed Services line-up in recent years at the Royal Gathering. Highlights of the day included the Pipes and Drums of the Royal Artillery, this year celebrating 300 years. The Artillery also took part in the very popular Services Tug of War and Relay events, which are always much enjoyed by the Royal family. This year also saw teams from local estates on Deeside compete in the ever-popular Inter-Estates tug-o-war challenge. The team from Her Majesty The Queen’s estate at Balmoral continued to hold this title for another year.
In a typical fusion of modernity and tradition, the Swiss watchmaking house Hublot, is particularly proud to be a partner of the Braemar Highland Gathering. Hublot champions the support of maintaining traditional values and customs and striking a harmonious balance between man and nature. Striving for success, team spirit and authenticity is at the heart of both Hublot and the Braemar Royal Highland Society.
Benoît Lecigne, Hublot’s UK, France and Eastern Europe Brand Director said: “On behalf of all the international team at Hublot, I can confirm we are delighted to be a part of the Braemar Royal Highland Society. We are constantly looking to develop our awareness and business in Scotland through our partnerships with the local retailer ROX which has established points of sale in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. The Braemar Highland Gathering is a celebratory local festivity which helps to enable us to extend and strengthen our presence in this territory.”
