Some dials give a watch its personality. And then there are those that seem to concentrate an entire material, an entire story, into a few millimetres of surface. With the Attitude Onyx, Manufacture PEQUIGNET turns to natural stone to enrich its Attitude collection with a new expression, darker and more intense.

Unveiled in September 2026 and available from 1 October, this new French creation pairs a genuine black onyx dial with a 39 mm case in polished 316L stainless steel. It brings together the mineral depth of the stone, the warmth of 5N rose gold-plated indexes and hands, and the precision of the Calibre Initial®, an in-house movement developed, produced and assembled in Morteau.
Behind its apparent restraint, the Attitude Onyx stands for a demanding approach to watchmaking: one where decorative craftsmanship and mechanics answer each other down to the smallest detail.
Onyx, the raw material of character
Onyx belongs to the chalcedony family. Recognisable by its opaque black and the fineness of its grain, this stone has been used since Antiquity in jewellery and the decorative arts.
What sets it apart is above all the density and uniformity of its colour. For PEQUIGNET, it becomes the raw material of a dial that profoundly transforms the character of the Attitude.
The black of the onyx makes its presence felt at once. It absorbs light and creates a particularly sober setting for the elements placed upon it. Since each dial is cut from a natural stone, the material itself contributes to the identity of the watch.
This mineral depth contrasts with the gleaming surface of the polished 316L stainless steel case. Light gathers on the edges and curves of the steel, while the dial retains the dark presence that makes the Attitude Onyx so distinctive.
The warmth of 5N rose on black

On this black canvas, PEQUIGNET introduces a warm note with indexes and hands in 5N rose gold plating.
The choice of this shade is not purely aesthetic. It also ensures instantly clear legibility against the dark onyx background. The contrast between the black stone and the rosy metal gives the dial an expression that is both contemporary and refined.
The markings are deliberately minimal, with the PEQUIGNET logo applied as a white transfer. A discreet graphic touch that keeps the focus on the stone.
The whole is protected by a domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal of the glass box type. Its shape recalls certain vintage fine watchmaking creations while giving the dial modern protection.
This raised construction adds to the personality of the Attitude Onyx: a watch that draws on certain historical codes without trying to reproduce the past.
A 39 mm case in 316L steel

With its 39 mm diameter, the Attitude Onyx sits at a restrained size, designed to preserve the overall balance of the watch.
The 316L stainless steel case features a polished finish that contrasts directly with the matt, mineral depth of the onyx.
This interplay between two materials is one of the main aesthetic drivers of the piece. On one side, the natural stone and its deep black; on the other, polished steel that catches and reflects the light.
The result remains deliberately pared back. No superfluous element distracts from the dialogue between dial and case.
Black alligator, a natural extension of the dial

PEQUIGNET carries this pursuit of coherence all the way to the strap.
The Attitude Onyx is fitted with a black alligator strap lined with black leather. Its colour naturally extends that of the dial and helps create visual continuity around the wrist.
It fastens with a polished steel pin buckle that echoes the gleaming finish of the case.
The whole retains a consistent aesthetic, where black dominates without obscuring the details of construction and finishing.
The Calibre Initial®, a movement born in Morteau

Behind the clean face of the Attitude Onyx lies one of the key elements of its identity: the Calibre Initial®.
Developed to power the Attitude collection, this in-house movement measures just 4.2 mm thick for a diameter of 28.2 mm. Its slimness contributes directly to the balanced proportions of this 39 mm watch.
Its power reserve reaches 65 hours.
PEQUIGNET also reworked the architecture of its winding train, whose novel tooth profile aims to improve mechanical efficiency while limiting component wear.
The research therefore goes well beyond the movement’s appearance. It touches directly on its design and how it works.
The Calibre Initial® also brings together two international patents, a sign of the Manufacture’s determination to develop its own technical solutions.
A French manufacture in the heart of the Jura

The Attitude Onyx is part of the recent history of a Maison whose identity remains deeply rooted in its region.
Founded in 1973 by Émile Péquignet, PEQUIGNET is based in Morteau, in the Jura. The Maison became a manufacture in 2010 and has since developed its own movements, including the Calibre Royal®, the Calibre Initial® and its chronograph version, as well as a Tourbillon.
The Calibre Initial® inside the Attitude Onyx is developed, produced and assembled in Morteau.
PEQUIGNET states that 72% of its components are made in France, with the remainder coming from Switzerland. All components are sourced within an 80-kilometre radius of the Manufacture.
This setup gives the new Attitude a particular dimension. Beyond its natural stone dial and contemporary aesthetic, it lays claim to a production rooted in a regional watchmaking ecosystem.
Awarded the “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” (Living Heritage Company) label, PEQUIGNET remains committed to passing on and developing French savoir-faire.
A new Attitude for PEQUIGNET

By joining the Attitude collection, the Onyx offers a particularly expressive take on the three-hand watch.
Here the stone becomes the main emotional vehicle. Its deep black gives the model an instantly recognisable presence, while the 5N rose adds a touch of warmth and the glass box sapphire crystal introduces a subtle nod to vintage watchmaking.
Yet behind this apparent simplicity lies an in-house movement with a 65-hour power reserve, designed and produced in the heart of the Jura.
It is precisely in this combination that the Attitude Onyx finds its personality: a watch that sets natural material in dialogue with mechanics, and artisanal heritage with contemporary design.
PEQUIGNET Attitude Onyx: price and availability
The PEQUIGNET Attitude Onyx will be available from 1 October 2026.
Its retail price is set at €3,500 including VAT.
It will be sold in the PEQUIGNET boutiques in Paris and Besançon, on the Maison’s online store and through authorised retailers.
With this new Attitude, PEQUIGNET pursues an approach in which the Manufacture’s French and Jura identity meets a renewed aesthetic expression. Black onyx becomes the common thread: an ancient, dense and silent material, put to the service of a contemporary watch powered by a movement conceived entirely within the Manufacture.
