Richard Mille has always maintained a special relationship with the world of cycling. An affinity nurtured by the admiration for athletes, but also by a shared fascination with mechanics, the pursuit of lightness, and that constant quest for performance where every component, like every gram, can make the difference.

With the RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago, the Maison takes a new step into this world by partnering with one of the most emblematic names in Italian cycling: Colnago. The result of joint development with the designers of the Cambiago manufacturer, this creation combines sportiness, aesthetic sophistication, and mechanical architecture in an edition limited to just 50 pieces.
Colnago, a legend of Italian cycling

Founded on a demanding vision of the competition bicycle, Colnago has over the decades become an essential reference in cycling and Italian craftsmanship. Its frames have left their mark on the history of the discipline through their pursuit of rigidity, lightness, and efficiency, but also through instantly recognizable aesthetic signatures.
These codes are found today in the RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago. Richard Mille transposes them into a distinctly contemporary watchmaking architecture, where the construction of the movement directly evokes that of a competition bicycle frame.

The RM64-01 caliber thus draws inspiration from the principles that guided the design of Colnago frames: lightness, transparency, and mastery of volumes. Its tubular and minimalist construction, resolutely graphic, allows the 274 components that make it up to be observed with great clarity.
An architecture inspired by the competition bicycle

The structure of the movement rests on a baseplate and bridges in skeletonized grade 5 titanium, microblasted and then enhanced by hand-polished bevels. These elements also benefit from black and grey PVD treatments that accentuate the architectural character of the whole.
The gear train houses a fast-rotating barrel offering a power reserve of 65 hours. Its position at 1 o’clock faces directly the variable-inertia tourbillon installed at 7 o’clock. This layout creates a visual evocation of a bicycle’s transmission, while the upper titanium bridges extend this inspiration.

Their star-shaped design indeed takes up the emblematic geometry of the Colnago Master frames. Developed in the 1980s, this architecture was notably intended to increase the torsional rigidity of the frame while retaining great lightness.
A case designed for performance

The pursuit of lightness, fundamental in cycling as in Richard Mille’s approach, is naturally found in the case of the RM 64-01. Its dimensions of 43,21 x 49,94 x 14,23 mm are paired with white Quartz TPT®, a material chosen for its mechanical properties and its ability to offer great resistance while retaining a contained mass.
The crenellated bezels immediately reinforce the sporty identity of the piece. They incorporate azure blue Quartz TPT®, a new hue developed specifically for this creation.

This color adds a further dimension to the composition, establishing a dialogue between the technicality of the case, the structure of the movement, and the visual references to the Colnago universe.
The first appearance of 5N gold on a Richard Mille sports watch

The RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago also introduces an important evolution in Richard Mille’s aesthetic language. For the first time on a sports watch from the Maison, 5N gold fully takes part in the visual identity of the creation.
The 5N red gold flange brings a warm touch to the whole. The precious metal also appears on the cap of the crown in Quartz TPT®, whose various finishes, microblasted, satin-brushed, polished, and lacquered, highlight the ace of clubs, Colnago’s iconic emblem.

The hands specially designed for this edition extend this signature. Their lines draw directly on the characteristic shapes of the cranks of a bicycle drivetrain, establishing a further link between the horological object and cycling mechanics.
Two mechanical worlds brought together

With the RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago, Richard Mille does not merely apply the codes of a bicycle manufacturer to a watch. The approach rests on a genuine encounter between two mechanical worlds sharing the same demands.
On one side, Richard Mille watchmaking, founded on the use of technical materials, lightness, architectural research, and the performance of the movement. On the other, Colnago, whose competition frames have made the mastery of materials, rigidity, and weight essential elements of cycling performance.

This creation thus embodies a shared vision of engineering: to design objects capable of combining technical efficiency, lightness, and artistic expression.
Limited to 50 pieces, the RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago naturally fits into this philosophy. More than a watch dedicated to cycling, it constitutes the encounter between two cultures of precision mechanics, brought together around a single obsession: pushing the limits of performance without ever sacrificing the aesthetic character of the object.
