Tiffany & Co. celebrates 160 years of chronographs with a new Tiffany Timer Titanium & Platinum

As early as 1847, Charles Lewis Tiffany recognized the growing interest in precision watches. A few years later, in 1866, the house introduced its first chronograph, named the Tiffany & Co. Timing Watch before being renamed Tiffany Timer. This period coincided with the development of Tiffany’s watchmaking activities in Switzerland, followed by the opening of an assembly workshop and, in 1874, a manufacture in Geneva capable of producing complicated watches, chronographs, and calendars.

This new Tiffany Timer directly pays tribute to this heritage, while adopting a resolutely contemporary take on the chronograph watch.

A limited edition celebrating a historic anniversary

After a first version in platinum fitted with a Tiffany Blue® dial, limited to 60 pieces, the house is now unveiling a second interpretation, produced in just 100 pieces and available from September 2026. This new edition combines titanium and platinum in an unprecedented construction, while adopting a dark blue dial accented with subtle touches of Tiffany Blue®, the house’s unmistakable chromatic signature.

The result is particularly well balanced. More technical in its approach than the first edition, this new Tiffany Timer favors a discreet elegance that will appeal to collectors and contemporary chronograph enthusiasts alike.

Titanium meets platinum

The 40 mm case is one of the most appealing elements of this new release.

Crafted in satin-finished Grade 5 titanium, it is fitted with a platinum bezel that adds an extra touch of nobility while creating a subtle contrast between the two materials. The fluid lines of the case are reinforced by perfectly integrated chronograph pushers, whose curve naturally follows the profile of the case band while protecting the crown.

This architecture reflects genuine design work in which elegance never compromises ergonomics.

The dial continues this pursuit of balance. Its deep sunburst blue is punctuated with touches of Tiffany Blue® on the counter indices, the chronograph minute track, and the date display. These chromatic accents evoke the famous Tiffany Blue Books catalogs while reinforcing the watch’s visual identity.

A customized El Primero at the heart of the watch

Behind its refined aesthetics lies a movement that belongs to the great legends of Swiss watchmaking.

The Tiffany Timer is powered by a specially customized version of the El Primero 400 caliber, the famous integrated column-wheel automatic chronograph developed by Zenith. Introduced in 1969, this movement remains today one of the absolute references in mechanical chronographs and continues to be praised for its architecture and reliability.

The layout of the three counters faithfully follows the historic El Primero configuration: chronograph minutes at three o’clock, chronograph hours at six o’clock, small seconds at nine o’clock, complemented by a date window positioned at six o’clock.

The movement offers a 50-hour power reserve and features an exclusive customization that sets it immediately apart.

The Bird on a Rock makes its way into the movement

It is on the back of the watch that Tiffany & Co. undoubtedly saves its finest surprise.

Visible through the sapphire caseback, the openworked oscillating weight features a miniature reproduction of the famous Bird on a Rock designed by Jean Schlumberger, one of the house’s most iconic jewelry creations.

Entirely hand-carved from a block of 18-carat yellow gold, the bird undergoes lengthy polishing work using various artisanal techniques to create multiple levels of brilliance and highlight every detail of its plumage.

This presence lends an almost playful dimension to an otherwise highly technical movement, perfectly illustrating Tiffany & Co.’s ability to blend watchmaking and artistic creation. The caseback is also engraved with the words “Limited Edition of 100,” a reminder of the exclusive nature of this anniversary edition.
