HABRING Uhrentechnik
Double measure! Austrian watches still among the best in the world in 2013!
The advertising slogan of a reborn watch manufacturer in Glashütte (Saxony) published in 1994 was simply: « The Swiss make the best watches in the world, and so do the Germans!. Less than 20 years later the international jury of experts at the Grand Prix d‘Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) confirmed for the second time running that an Austrian watch brand is also one of the best in the world.
Maria and Richard Habring – and their Habring² brand established in 2004 –, the « organic watchmakers » from Völkermarkt in Carinthia, have impressively proved that their victory of last year in the « Sport » category was not just a one-off event. This year ‘s award-winning member of the family-owned manufactory bears the name « Jumping Second Pilot » and convinced the 23-strong jury consisting of international expert journalists, well-known designer Philippe Starck and singer and watch enthusiast Herbert Grönemeyer.
The category “La Petite Aiguille“ or “Small Hand“, in which the Habring² “Jumping Second Pilot“ successfully competed against numerous renowned competitors, is reserved for watches with a maximum purchase price of € 6,000.
Not only the stylish performance in front of the capacity crowd at the Grand Théâtre de Genève earned show-stopping applause – and the occasional emotional teardrop – for the Carinthian dream-team, but also the spontaneous declaration of love Maria Habring gave to her husband and business partner, Richard.
The second « Grand Prix » in sequence awarded to the small family-run business – in the 13th year of the « Watch Oscars » – puts reputable brands in their place and proves once again that Austrian watchmaking is once again world-class.
