The new Louis Erard x Vianney Halter Futur Antérieur, unveiled on 30 October 2026, marks a new chapter in the collaboration between the Swiss watchmaker and the French creator. Directly inspired by the legendary Antiqua, this singular watch pairs two dials with two independent automatic movements, housed in an all-new case just 8.85 mm thick. Offered in Gold and Silver versions, each limited to 178 pieces, it carries forward the retro-futuristic vision that has been Vianney Halter’s signature for nearly three decades.

At Passion Horlogère, we know Vianney Halter’s world well. Back in 2013, we devoted an exclusive interview to his spectacular Deep Space Tourbillon, a creation that also received our very first Watch of the Year award. In 2020, we gave the floor once again to this endearing and unconventional watchmaker in a portrait titled “Vianney Halter, or watchmaking for pleasure”.

Suffice it to say that every new creation from this free spirit piques our curiosity.
A collaboration that takes on a new dimension
Since Manuel Emch took the helm, Louis Erard has made collaborations with the big names of independent watchmaking a true signature. Alain Silberstein, Konstantin Chaykin and Vianney Halter have all helped give the Jura-based brand a distinctive identity, built on creative freedom and a certain idea of accessible watchmaking.

After several interpretations of the regulator, including Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Vianney Halter II, featured in our pages in 2025, the two men decided to go much further. This time, it is no longer just a matter of revisiting a dial, but of designing an entirely new watch, directly inspired by Vianney Halter’s legendary Antiqua, born in 1998.

And the result is anything but lacking in personality!
Two portholes, two movements, one vision
The Futur Antérieur takes up the Antiqua’s highly distinctive design codes: its riveted portholes, blued hands, refined industrial finishes and that delightful retro-futuristic look that seems to have stepped straight out of a Jules Verne novel.
But the real originality also lies in its construction. The steel case, developed specifically for this collaboration, brings together no fewer than 67 components. Measuring 38 x 44 mm and kept to a thickness of just 8.85 mm, it is remarkably slim given its architecture.

Beneath the two portholes sit two independent Sellita SW100 automatic movements. The first drives the hours and minutes, while the second is dedicated exclusively to the small seconds. Both beat at a frequency of 4 Hz and offer a typical power reserve of 42 hours. It is an original technical solution that allows the design imagined by Vianney Halter to be fully respected.

The care given to the finishes also deserves attention: circular and vertical satin finishing, polished chamfers, raised bezels adorned with gilded rivets and two crowns typical of the Halter universe. Every detail contributes to this particularly expressive miniature architecture.
Gold or Silver: two personalities
The Futur Antérieur comes in two versions. The Gold version pairs gilded dials with a black ostrich leather strap, for a warm and decidedly vintage interpretation. The Silver version opts for rhodium-plated dials and a blue ostrich leather strap, whose colour elegantly echoes the blued steel hands. Each edition is limited to 178 pieces, priced at 4,950 CHF excluding taxes. A box set bringing together both versions is also offered in 78 sets, at 9,900 CHF excluding taxes.

When watchmaking tells more than the time
The name Futur Antérieur is obviously no accident. On its own, it sums up Vianney Halter’s fascination with objects that seem to come from a future imagined long ago.

What is particularly appealing about this new creation is that it does not simply borrow the codes of a model that has become iconic. It reinterprets them through the eyes of two personalities who share the same conviction: watchmaking must also be a wonderful field of freedom and expression.

With this Louis Erard x Vianney Halter Futur Antérieur, Manuel Emch and Vianney Halter remind us that a successful collaboration is not simply a matter of placing two signatures on a dial.
Above all, it has to tell a story. And this one certainly deserves a closer look.
