Hublot takes to the pitch for Wayne Rooney’s Testimonial in aid of the Wayne Rooney Foundation

The Swiss watchmaker and passionate football supporter introduces a pair of special edition Classic Fusion watches for the iconic England footballer’s testimonial match

Hublot is delighted to announce that it will co-host legendary Manchester United and England forward Wayne Rooney’s Testimonial on August 3rd. The charity football match will be played in aid of the Wayne Rooney Foundation at the Theatre of Dreams, Manchester United’s world-famous Old Trafford football stadium.

To mark the occasion, Hublot has produced two special edition Classic Fusion watches to commemorate Wayne Rooney’s unprecedented achievements in football. With 53 England goals to his name, he is the all-time leading scorer in English international football, and will break the record for the most appearances by an English outfield player when he next pulls on an England shirt.

Rooney is currently captain of both his club and country, and as the 2016/17 season starts he has already made 520 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 245 goals for the club he joined as a teenager in 2004. That tally leaves him just five away from breaking Bobby
Charlton’s 41-year-old record, a mark he will surely pass this coming season.

Hublot has named two special watches after this special player. The Hublot Classic Fusion Special Edition ‘Wayne Rooney’ in titanium will be limited to 65 pieces, while the 18-carat King Gold model will be limited to just two pieces. The entire run of both pieces will be donated to the Foundation.

Both models feature a red 10 in the 10 o’clock position in reference to Wayne Rooney’s Manchester United shirt number, while the case back is decorated with the words ‘Wayne Rooney Testimonial 2016’ and his signature. One of each model will be showcased at Old
Trafford on match day.

The game will be attended by a host of famous faces from the worlds of football and entertainment, including Hublot ambassador and new Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho. The FA Cup, won by Manchester United last season, will also be on display at the Theatre of Dreams. The Testimonial is against Everton, Wayne Rooney’s first club, and will take place at 8pm on August 3. Hublot branding will appear on panels around Old Trafford.
