Sinn Spezialuhren celebrates topping-out ceremony for new headquarters
Following the laying of the foundation stone in July 2015, another important chapter is now being written in the company’s history. On May 25, Sinn Spezialuhren has celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its new headquarters at Wilhelm-Fay-Strasse 21 in Frankfurt’s Sossenheim district. Around 100 employees are set to move into the new premises in early 2017.
The topping-out ceremony will begin with a welcoming address by City Councillor Markus Frank, head of the Department of Economics, Sports, Security and Fire Services. Other speakers will include Lothar Schmidt, the owner of Sinn Spezialuhren, and Frank Wingerter, CEO of Itasi-Aktiengesellschaft and property developer. In keeping with tradition, the foreman will recite an old carpenter saying before throwing his glass off the roof to bless the new building and bring it luck. The official part of the topping-out ceremony will be brought to a close with a ‘topping-out feast’, which involves all guests raising a glass to the success of the second phase of construction.
Occupying an area of approximately 7,000 square metres, the property is a symbol of the company’s prosperity in recent years. Years in which Sinn Spezialuhren has recorded positive and stable growth. With the move, the watch manufacturer aims to continue this development and secure a foothold for the company on a basis that’s fit for the future. In addition to the production of high-quality timepieces, the new location will be focused on direct sales from a dedicated showroom, as well as customer service tasks.
The company will also swap the 1,950 square metres currently at its disposal for 4,650 square metres, thus enabling the expansion of assembly and production areas and, in turn, an increased level of vertical integration. Larger showrooms for direct watch sales and the continuation of personal customer service will also be possible on the new premises.
Complete with mezzanine and roof terrace, the two-and-a-half-storey building shelters an atrium with a glass roof. The building itself meets the strict requirements of the German Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV2014). A total of 75 parking spaces are available to customers and staff, and the new headquarters are extremely easy to reach, both by car and public transport.
The relocation of the company also means that its current headquarters in Frankfurt-Rödelheim will be vacated. Despite this, two company-owned points of contact will remain in Frankfurt am Main, offering direct sales and customer service. After all, Sinn Spezialuhren has been operating its very own branch in Römerberg square since May 2015. Naturally, customers can also purchase their watches from any one of our nationwide distributors, all of which are selected jewellers and specialist watchmakers.
