The Brigade de Sapeurs-Pompiers de Paris (BSPP)
On Thursday, 20 June, Garmin and the Brigade de Sapeurs-Pompiers de Paris (BSPP) invited a handful of selected journalists to the Caserne Blanche, in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. The aim was to unveil an unprecedented collaboration between the world’s leading wearable brand and France’s elite rescue unit. Created in 1811 by decree of Napoleon Bonaparte, following a fire that ravaged the Austrian Embassy, the BSPP is today the largest fire and rescue corps in Europe and the third largest in the world. This military unit, placed under the authority of the Prefect of Police since its founding (and therefore under the Ministry of the Interior, ed.), watches over nearly 7 million inhabitants spread across 124 municipalities in Paris and the departments of 92, 93 and 94. Each year, 8,600 men and women of the BSPP, who hold military status, carry out more than 500,000 interventions (2023 figures, ed.) and save more than 30,000 lives. In 2023 the BSPP dealt with 15,500 fires, or 43 a day, responding on average in under 6 minutes. On average, 1,900 firefighters are mobilized every day, spread across 81 fire stations in Paris and the surrounding inner suburbs.

An obvious collaboration!
Many extreme-sport professionals now turn to the latest Garmin technologies to meet their needs in terms of performance and self-improvement, and it came as no surprise to see genuine interest from the firefighters present at this presentation in the products on display.

” On the occasion of the 213th anniversary of the Paris fire brigade, Garmin is proud to present two special editions of our tactix® 7 AMOLED and Instinct® 2 Solar Tactical watches. These models reflect our commitment to innovation and our respect for those who put their lives on the line to protect us. Every second counts, especially in critical moments, and we are honored to support these everyday heroes “, Eric Bernard, General Manager at Garmin

« Time, that precious ally in our profession where every second counts, takes on a new form. Since 1811, the firefighters of Paris have proudly upheld the values of courage, team spirit and toughness. Our work is demanding and sometimes dangerous, and we need reliable, innovative equipment to help us carry out our missions. With these two special edition watches for the Brigade’s 213th anniversary, Garmin has managed to meet our needs. » – General Joseph Dupré la Tour, Commander of the Brigade de Sapeurs-Pompiers de Paris

Garmin, extraordinary expertise
In 2024, Garmin has 10 factories worldwide, 86 offices and 20,000 employees spread across 35 countries. A third of these employees are engineers who develop products that the brand manufactures itself. Since Garmin’s founding in 1989, and the first connected watches in 2003, some 290 million products have been sold across the worlds of aviation, marine, automotive, fitness and outdoor.

The relationship with the BSPP dates back to 2019, with the idea of offering watches for firefighters to accompany them in their daily training. This product could also be adapted and offered to the general public. Two special limited-edition models were thus created and will be available for purchase from mid-July.

Garmin Tactix 7 AMOLED, Special Edition (1 299,99 €)
To honor the unit’s 213th anniversary, Garmin developed a special edition of the Tactix 7 AMOLED, produced in only 213 pieces.

Its design honors the Brigade through a special two-tone red and black silicone strap stamped « Sapeurs-pompiers de Paris », accompanied by a dedicated dial and a limited-edition medal celebrating this partnership, all presented in a box specially designed for the occasion.

As a reminder, clad in titanium with an amorphous carbon coating, the tactix 7 AMOLED model is equipped with a large 1.4-inch touchscreen, ultra-bright and readable in all conditions. The watch also features dedicated training and tactical performance functions, mapping, navigation functions and comprehensive health and fitness tracking. With its built-in flashlight, night vision mode and 31-day battery life, this high-performance connected watch is designed to be used on all terrains, in the most extreme conditions, day or night.

Garmin Instinct 2 Solar Tactical, Special Edition (399,99 €)
Garmin has also developed a special edition of the Instinct 2 Solar Tactical connected watch, limited to 1811 pieces, echoing the year the Brigade was founded. This model stands out with three custom loops in blue, white and red, as well as a unique dial.

As a reminder, the Instinct 2 Solar Tactical is part of Garmin’s famous line of rugged, connected Instinct 2 watches. Equipped with specific functions for outdoor activities, this watch is the perfect tool for firefighters. The dual GPS coordinate format makes it easier to work and communicate with other foreign rescue teams. The altimeter, barometer and compass sensors, as well as the TrackBack function, are also essential for extreme situations where professionals must navigate in zero-visibility conditions. Designed to withstand the most extreme environments, these watches were developed to US military standards (MIL-STD-810) for resistance to heat, shock and water, and are water-resistant to 10 ATM. In addition, thanks to its solar glass, the watch offers unlimited battery life in smartwatch mode.
