Last weekend, Louis Moinet ambassador Scott Dixon won the IndyCar championship for the fourth time, an achievement that places him up there with the most titled drivers in the world in a race category characterised by speeds of up to 370 kph – faster even than Formula One.
What’s more, Scott Dixon is a champion displaying a rare loyalty in his choices, remaining faithful to his team for fourteen years – also a record in this field. With his new title, Scott Dixon has brought them their one hundredth win on IndyCar circuits, a great many of which he has won personally.
Scott Dixon also embodies the triumph of perseverance and long-term strategy. Before the start of the final race on Sunday, he was well down the field, needing 47 points to catch up – but once again, Scott proved that nothing was for certain until the chequered flag. With the final race counting for double points, he pipped his direct opponent at the post to carry off the title for the fourth time, in defiance of every prediction.
“We’ve been partnering with Scott since 2012,” says Jean-Marie Schaller, Louis Moinet’s CEO. “He’s a champion who has established himself one step at a time, displaying unrivalled humility and constancy. We’re literally witnessing the birth of a legend, moulded by performance, precision and loyalty – values to which his titles are a worthy tribute, and with which we can fully identify.”
Together, Louis Moinet and Scott Dixon have developed an exclusive timepiece for the Legend collection, for which 365 watches have been produced. A two-pusher chronograph featuring a tachymeter scale and all the style codes of motor sport, the Scott Dixon Legend also boasts carbon fibre inserts, along with blue tints that hint at the drivers nickname, “Iceman” – earned thanks to his calm and control in all circumstances, even the most extreme IndyCar situations.
Louis Moinet is especially proud to be associated with Scott Dixon’s talent, and wishes him every success in his ongoing career!
Scott Dixon
The Scott Dixon is a sporty, two-pusher, automatic chronograph celebrating the championship-winning IZOD IndyCar Series racing driver. This stunning timepiece’s dial and functionality have been specifically designed with racing drivers and motorsport enthusiasts in mind.
Rhodium-plated central hour and minute hands filled with Super-LumiNova are accompanied by highly-reflective, metallised hour indices and small seconds at 9 o’clock.
The central chronograph hand is complemented by a seconds chapter ring, 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock.
Speed or distance can be calculated using the tachymeter scale engraved on the bezel to monitor racing performance.
The lower half of the dial features Geneva wave finishing reminiscent of the vertical grill design found on historic racing cars.
The high-visibility dial is completed by the Louis Moinet logo at 12 o’clock and, naturally, Scott Dixon’s signature logo at 5 o’clock, in a cool shade of blue reminding us that Scott’s nickname is the “Iceman” due to his calm and contemplative manner.
The red and white on the dial mirror the red and white Indy cars and overalls that Scott has worn with such distinction while representing Target Chip Ganassi Racing over the past decade.
The Scott Dixon case design takes its cues from recent developments in motorsport technology, with the six-screw, stainless steel case incorporating a high-tech, carbon-fibre lower bezel.
Carbon fibre is also used to form the inserts for the chronograph pushers at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock. To enhance grip, the pushers have been engraved with a chequered motif reminiscent of the iconic finish-line flag that Scott has taken 29 times to date in his IndyCar career.
The pushers take the form of champagne corks for a ‘podium finish’ experience – and in the case of Scott that means a lot of bubbly: So far Scott has been on the podium 48 times in the 90 races he has completed!
Two smart strap options are available: Driver-friendly natural rubber or elegant black leather with bold red stitching.
Turning the Scott Dixon over, the tinted sapphire crystal display back reveals beautifully finished plates and bridges as well as a distinctive open-worked, black rhodium-plated, ball bearing-mounted rotor, the design of which echoes that of a high-performance car brake disc.
Around the periphery of the caseback, an Indianapolis 500 Winner’s wreath is engraved – extremely appropriate because, as the accompanying inscription reminds us, Scott Dixon was the winner of this famous race in 2008. Also engraved are ‘2003’ and ‘2008’, the two seasons Scott was the IZOD IndyCar Series Champion.
The Scott Dixon is presented in a deluxe case with black carbon fibre-style interior.
