2013 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™
The FORMULA 1 GRANDE PRÊMIO PETROBRAS DO BRASIL marked the final race of the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship Season™. It was an intense battle from start to finish, with exciting performances from the world’s best drivers, but it was Sebastian Vettel who brought the Formula 1® season to a close with victory in an action packed Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace Circuit. Mark Webber joined his team-mate on the podium in his final Formula 1® race after an intense battle with Ferrari ‘s Fernando Alonso, who finished third.
The FORMULA 1 GRANDE PRÊMIO PETROBRAS DO BRASIL provided the thrilling finale of yet another exciting Formula 1® season that has seen 8 different drivers on the podium. However, it was Sebastian Vettel and Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s dominance that allowed them to respectively secure the FIA Formula One World Championship™ Driver and Constructor’s title at the 2013 FORMULA 1 AIRTEL INDIAN GRAND PRIX for their fourth successive year. Vettel’s achievements means he equals double World Champion Alberto Ascari’s long-standing record of nine consecutive victories between 1952 and 1953 and joins Alain Prost as the only other driver to have won four FIA Formula One World Championship™ titles. Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber completed the final top-three in the Driver’s Championship standings, with Mercedes securing second place ahead of Ferrari in the Constructor’s category.
This year, the world of Formula 1® has seen the Official Rolex Timepiece present at all 19 Formula 1® Grands Prix across the season, forming the centrepiece of Rolex’s presence around each event. Rolex also commenced the season as Title Sponsor of the 2013 FORMULA 1 ROLEX AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX. Additionally, the podium branding at the FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX DU CANADA 2013, 2013 FORMULA 1 JAPANESE GRAND PRIX and 2013 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX further reinforced Rolex’s presence in the global sport, allowing the brand to naturally become an integral part of the Formula 1® world.
A FLAWLESS PARTNERSHIP
Arnaud Boetsch, Communication & Image Director of Rolex SA, said, “It has been a truly fantastic year for Rolex as we started our long-term global partnership with Formula One. It was part of a strategic move by Rolex to focus its sponsorship activities on endeavours chosen for their strong symbolic value.”
“The past year has enabled us to present the brand on a global stage, engaging our key markets across the world, which very few high level sports can do. Given the nature of the race season, it has been a powerful platform, which allowed us to communicate Rolex’s core values to a very substantial audience and in turn has given us some great exposure.”
“Rolex and Formula One are two world-leading brands, who share a passion for performance and precision, founded on their pursuit of excellence in technology and innovative engineering. The 2014 Formula One season will bring some of the biggest changes to the sport’s technical regulations over the last decade and it will be fascinating to see the integration of this innovative technology.”
“It has been a very special year for me because, having worked with Rolex for 45 years, it has been fantastic to see their wonderful brand at every Grand Prix this season and become an integral part of the fabric of Formula One. I’m sure 2014 will bring further excitement and more great racing all around the world.”
