Leucate, May 1st 2011 – Zenith ambassador Alex Caizergues triumphs at the World Wind Championships in Leucate, France
In the 2011 World Wind Championships in Leucate, Alex Caizergues began by winning the Pro/Am long-distance race on April 26th in great conditions, after victories in five legs out of six. This is the second time in two years that he has earned this title. The week then continued with intense competition for the Orange Speed Crossing, with kiteboarders and windsurfers vying with each other for the much-coveted trophy. On Sunday May 1st, Caizergues was proclaimed overall winner after displaying impressive regularity throughout the competition and successfully distancing the windsurfers – once again proving himself to be an outstanding competitor. Supported by Zenith, Alex Caizergues proudly wears an El Primero Striking 10th, a symbol of precision and high achievements. The 32 year-old champion has been a professional kitesurfer and speed sailing specialist since July 2005. He already has three world champion titles to his credit, along with two kite speed world records and two outright world records. In October 2010, he went down in the history books by breaking the 100 km/h barrier at Luderitz, Namibia, powered solely by the wind. As an exceptional exponent of a demanding discipline, Alex Caizergue’s attitude and accomplishments vividly embody the ZENITH “pioneer spirit”, as well as the El Primero catch phrase: “Its heart beats faster. Yours too.”
