With the BR-05 Mirror, Bell & Ross offers a new interpretation of its contemporary instrument watch. Limited to 250 examples and reserved for the Maison’s own boutiques, this special edition plays with light through a particularly advanced treatment of mirror-polished and satin-brushed surfaces. Crafted entirely in steel, from the case to the bracelet by way of the dial, it transforms the functional codes of the BR-05 into a more precious, almost jewellery-like expression.
Since its creation, Bell & Ross has cultivated an aesthetic drawn directly from the world of precision instruments and aeronautical dashboards. With the BR-05 collection, launched in 2019, the Parisian Maison steered this philosophy towards an urban, elegant and versatile watch. The BR-05 Mirror continues that evolution by bringing the work of material and light to the foreground.
Steel as a material of expression
Here steel takes centre stage. Usually chosen for its mechanical qualities, its resistance to corrosion and its robustness, with the BR-05 Mirror it becomes a genuine aesthetic element. Bell & Ross explores it for its full capacity to reflect light, to the point of dissolving the boundary between instrument watch and objet d’art.
The 40 mm case thus combines mirror-polished surfaces with satin finishes. The contrasts in texture bring relief to the BR-05’s distinctive architecture while reinforcing its contemporary character. The screw-down crown is protected by a guard integrated into the case, while the overall lines retain that recognisable geometry which is one of the collection’s signatures.
This exploration of steel finds its natural extension in the integrated bracelet. Its surfaces also alternate polishing and satin brushing, continually varying the reflections according to the light and the movements of the wrist.
Mirror polishing, a demanding finish

On the BR-05 Mirror, mirror polishing is not a simple gloss effect. It becomes a true watchmaking finishing technique. Achieving a perfectly reflective surface on steel demands great precision, since the slightest scratch, irregularity or distortion can immediately spoil the quality of the result.
Bell & Ross carries this exploration all the way to the dial. The rhodium-plated brass plate is entirely given a mirror-polished treatment, while the applied indexes and the hands receive the same treatment. Light thus reflects across the whole composition and creates a multitude of visual variations.
Bruno Belamich, co-founder and creative director of Bell & Ross, describes this approach as that of a “single-material, monochrome and monobloc sculpture”. A definition that sums up the spirit of this edition particularly well.
A dial designed as a mirror

The dial of the BR-05 Mirror is probably the most spectacular element of this new creation. Its base, its indexes and its flange seem to belong to a single block of metal. The various volumes appear and disappear depending on the angle of the light, while the polished hands stand out subtly against this reflective surface.
This approach could have compromised legibility, yet Bell & Ross preserves an immediate reading of the time. The applied indexes and the rhodium-plated hands play with the reflections without losing their primary function.
The pursuit of purity goes as far as removing any date aperture. The automatic BR-CAL.321-1 calibre was reworked so as not to include a window. An aesthetic decision that lets the dial keep its perfectly continuous appearance and reinforces the impression of a metallic monobloc.
A BR-05 between instrument and jewel

The BR-05 Mirror reflects an interesting evolution of the Bell & Ross philosophy. The brand stays true to its instrument-watch DNA, but offers a more sophisticated interpretation of it.
The BR-05 had precisely been conceived to move beyond the mere functionality of cockpit instruments. With its 40 mm case, its urban lines and its integrated bracelet, it had introduced a more elegant dimension into the Bell & Ross world. The Mirror version pushes that transformation even further.
The result sits at the meeting point of several worlds: that of the contemporary sports watch, that of high technology and that of the jewel. Polished steel becomes here as expressive as a precious metal, while the work of light replaces traditional decorative flourishes.
A discreet mechanism behind the mirror

Beneath this highly worked aesthetic, the BR-05 Mirror retains an automatic movement. The BR-CAL.321-1 calibre handles the hours, minutes and seconds functions and offers a 54 hours power reserve.
The movement can be observed through the sapphire caseback. Its oscillating weight rotates through 360 degrees, offering a dynamic view of the mechanism when the watch is worn or handled.
The case, 10.5 mm thick, thus keeps a certain slimness given its architecture, while water resistance to 100 metres reinforces the versatility of this watch designed for everyday use.
Two bracelets for two expressions

The BR-05 Mirror is offered with two bracelet options. The first takes up the integrated polished and satin-brushed steel bracelet, a natural extension of the case and its work on metallic surfaces.

The second option adopts a black rubber strap with a folding clasp in polished and satin-brushed steel. More sporty, this configuration creates a contrast with the monochrome character of the dial and the case.
A confidential edition of 250 examples

With only 250 pieces produced, the Bell & Ross BR-05 Mirror follows a logic of exclusivity. This special edition is reserved exclusively for Bell & Ross boutiques, further reinforcing its confidential character.
More than a simple aesthetic variation of the BR-05, this new creation illustrates Bell & Ross’s determination to explore the possibilities offered by a material as familiar as steel. By working simultaneously on the mirror polishing, the satin brushing, the volumes of the case and the surface of the dial, the Maison turns light into a genuine design element.
The BR-05 Mirror therefore does not seek to add ornamentation to the instrument watch. Instead it chooses to reduce its aesthetic language to the essentials: a metal, an architecture, a light and a mechanism. A radical approach that gives this limited edition a singular presence within the BR-05 collection.
