Grégory Pons, founder of Business Montres: articles and interviews
Grégory Pons is the French journalist who founded Business Montres, an independent watch news outlet. This page gathers the Passion Horlogère articles that quote or interview him, from his 2018 interview to the awards and initiatives he took part in.
Grégory Pons is a French journalist based in Switzerland to be closer to the heart of his subject. After contributing to many specialist titles, he founded Business Montres, an independent watch news outlet. In the interview he gave the magazine in March 2018, he contrasts his tone and freedom of expression with what he calls the “parrot media”. The industry looks forward to his analyses at the end of every trade show.
Passion Horlogère has crossed paths with him since 2016. At the Watch Fair Luxembourg in June 2016, he attended as editor-in-chief of “Business Montres et Joaillerie”. In January 2017, the magazine relayed one of his scoops: Jean-Claude Biver was said to be taking over the Zenith manufacture, news first published by Business Montres. The full 2018 portrait remains the best way in: Grégory Pons, founder of Business Montres.
His phrases and figures then keep appearing in the magazine's editorials. In April 2019, the editorial on Baselworld picks up his expression of the press being placed “at the heart of the reactor”. In November 2019, the decline in Swiss watch exports is cited from his articles on Business Montres. In July 2020, the editorial on the recovery after lockdown mentions the “Chronapocalypse 2020”, as he named it himself.
He has also supported several Passion Horlogère initiatives. In December 2019, he joined the jury of the 10th anniversary prize draw. In April 2020, he was the first media supporter of the Leetchi fundraiser launched for the staff mobilised during lockdown.
In November 2022, he was among the ten journalists on the selection committee that chose the nominated watches for the watch of the year prize awarded by Frank sans C and MyWatch, won by the Herbelin Newport Slim Squelette.
He finally appears on other pages of the site, for example among the personalities whose portraits Peter Speake-Marin drew for his project The Naked Watchmaker. Browse the articles above to find each of these passages.
